Leckhampton Baptist Church gathers every Sunday morning

Our meetings start at 10:30am and we aim to finish between 11:30 and 11:45

We meet at Leckhampton Baptist Church, Pilley Lane, Cheltenham, GL53 9EP

What to expect

When you come to a meeting at LBC, we really want you to feel welcomed, included and at ease.
Feel free to sit where you like and be sure to ask a member of our welcome team to help you to find a seat if you need assistance.

Our meetings begin with all ages together for about 30 minutes of sung worship, prayers and a family talk. We use a variety of songs including hymns and contemporary songs.
The lyrics to these songs are projected onto a screen. Children are more than welcome during worship and we regularly include them in this time.
Please feel free to join in or just observe in whatever way makes you most comfortable.
We take up an offering. Guests are not expected to give money (although you are welcome to) and no one will mind if you don’t.

Children and Youth

Our children are with us during the first part of the service.
We are relaxed about baby noise so we hope you won’t feel uncomfortable if your baby is unsettled.

Our kids break into three groups:
for those aged 3-5 years – we use the Jesus Storybook Bible Curriculum.
Seekers  for those aged 6-10 years – we use the Gospel Story Curriculum
There is a separate crèche for the little ones.

We aim to create a safe and stimulating environment for all our children. Each week we create a mix of worship, games, crafts, and discussion around a key theme or Bible story, with the aim of creating moments that draw our children into their own trust in Jesus.

We operate a strong child protection policy and volunteers are trained and DBS checked.

Bible teaching and prayer
After our small people leave us we offer relevant and accessible preaching from the Bible, which lasts around 30 minutes.  We believe that God speaks through the Bible as it is preached and the Holy Spirit brings it to life, so this is a central part of what we do on a Sunday gathering.

After the meeting

Eating/Drinking together
After the meeting people we share drinks and biscuits in the rear of the church.
Our volunteers do a fantastic job in making sure everyone is seen to.

On special occasions we have a bring and share meal at the end of service.

We understand it can be daunting if you’ve never been to a church service before.

To make it easier, this page gives you some idea of what to expect and what a church service is really like.

Hearing Aids

If you want to listen using the induction loop (for those with hearing difficulties) you will find it works best if you sit towards the centre. If you use a hearing aid, please switch it to the “T” setting on older hearing aids or press the button twice to get onto the loop for newer hearing aids.

Toilets can be found at the rear of the building.

After the morning service there is usually a chance for tea, coffee or a soft drink, served in the area to the right of the platform. It’s a great chance to catch up with others and to find out more about church life.

Look around

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to be shown around the building during the week, or to arrange for someone to meet you on arrival and welcome you that way.
